| A number of model systems have been developed to study arene-arene interactions, however many models allow for only the study of face-to-face arene-arene interactions or for only the study of edge-to-face arene-arene interactions. We will present computational studies of a model compound that should permit both face-to-face and edge-to-face arene-arene interactions, thus allowing for the investigation of how aromatic substitution patterns favor face-to-face or edge-to-face arene-arene geometries. We will also present synthetic efforts towards the synthesis of the model host. Synthesis of the model host will allow for solid-state and solution-phase verification of the computational studies. |
