This presentation outlines research on DNA analysis examining STR's using capillary electrophoresis. Types of biological evidence that may be found at a crime scene were analyzed for the presence of DNA, such as blood, chewing gum, cigarette butts, and urine. The amount of DNA recovered from the samples was determined. The samples were amplified with the AmpFlSTR Cofiler kit and run on the ABI 310 Genetic Analyzer. In addition, this presentation highlights the determination of whether twins that look alike are actually identical twins or fraternal twins, using the same techniques.
