Dimensional analysis is a conceptual tool used by chemists to navigate between the many units used in the discipline. An interactive (Flash-based) Map of Units has been developed that provides a visual picture to dimensional analysis problems common in the introductory chapters of most college chemistry courses. The unique feature of this interactive approach is that each conversion factor used in the problem (and the answer) is evaluated by the program - incorrect numbers, units, labels are reported back to the student in red. This online electronic program forces students to replace archaic ratio methods with a dimensional analysis approach and to show their work exactly as seen in college-level textbooks.
