Got volunteers? Need volunteers? Interested in being a volunteer? Then we've got resources for you! Thanks to volunteers, ACS-sponsored community outreach programs such as National Chemistry Week and Chemists Celebrate Earth Day reach millions of members of the general public with positive messages about chemistry. When it comes time to recognize a job well done, the Office of Community Activities has two programs: Salutes to Excellence and ChemLuminary Awards for National Chemistry Week. The Salutes program provides an opportunity to recognize the positive impact made by a product, practitioner, or place of importance in chemistry with the presentation of a commemorative plaque. The ChemLuminary Awards for National Chemistry Week, formerly the Phoenix Awards, recognize local sections that have demonstrated exemplary performance in the development and implementation of outstanding activities in support of NCW. See how these resources can be used to enhance outreach and encourage volunteer participation in your area.
