| Having been away from research for 15 years, it would be presumptuous of me to address active researchers on a current research topic. I can, perhaps, call attention to advances in our field and suggest activities that will enhance the value and appreciation of chemical education research. Your research–indeed all research related to teaching and learning science–grows increasingly important as science and technology impact ever-growing segments of society. It is not enough for a small elite to understand chemistry today; everybody needs such knowlege, and we know far too little about how to teach them. I will challenge you to learn how. |
