This work will present the synthesis of a series of 5-substituted-isatin based thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone compounds. The 5-substitutions include nitro, fluoro, and sulfonic acid, which are used as substrates to form a series of eight compounds each. Most of these 24 products have never been reported in the literature, and 1H NMR is used to examine the hydrogen bonding aspects of these three series of compounds.
