| The organic chemistry workshop program was adapted by organic chemistry professor Dr. Timm Knoerzer of Nazareth College in 1999. It consists of a small group of eight to ten organic chemistry students working together to solve challenging problems. This discussion is facilitated by a peer leader and former organic student. Workshop allows the students to apply concepts learned in class to new problems and solve these problems in a collaborative and supportive environment. Workshop also gives the students an opportunity to clarify concepts from class with the support of a peer leader. To assess the effectiveness of workshop, model surveys were sent to Dr. Knoerzer, former workshop leaders, and current workshop participants. The feedback from these surveys will be reviewed by me as a workshop leader, and used to improve current and future organic workshops. |
