As part of an initiative for new postdoctoral models the Chemistry division of NSF developed the Discovery Corps Fellowship; a non-traditional fellowship focusing on community outreach. For the past two years I have developed after school science clubs for students in grades 3-8. The students have the opportunity to participate in hands on science prjects after the school day. The goal of the clubs is to increase student interest in studying science and encourage undergraduate volunteers to consider a career in science teaching. To date we have served over 320 students at over 45 “Science Club” meetings held at six schools in three school districts.
