The Physical Chemistry in Practice DVD is a hypermedia DVD containing programs describing current, applied research in physical chemistry. Students volunteered to be recorded while they worked with a program about surface-enhanced Raman-spectroscopy during a physical chemistry laboratory course. Their navigation patterns have been analyzed and correlated with their prior use of technology, attitudes towards chemistry, and learning gains. Applications of these correlations to multimedia design and implementation will be discussed.
