Electronic homework systems "GradeSummit" and "Eduspace" have been used in turn for two years each in a two-semester General Chemistry class. The advantages of using these systems in a fairly large class are that weekly homework can be assigned to the students, and graded electronically, and that other on-line resources are available to the students. Students' reactions to these resources were studied and found to be mixed. Most students did not use these resources unless points were assigned to designated homework exercises. A study is in progess that attempts to find out if the students learning is improved by the on-line homework systems.
