In the author's second year of teaching in a tenure-track position, both organic chemistry lecture and physical chemistry were converted to POGIL using the published materials for these content areas (Straumanis and Spencer/Moog/Farrell). POGIL is still being used in the organic chemistry classroom as well as converting the organic chemistry laboratory and general chemistry laboratory to the POGIL method. The rational for changing to POGIL as well as accounts of successes, frustrations and modifications will be discussed.
