The analytical stream of the undergraduate chemistry program at the University of Toronto has included a course on chemical and biological sensors since 1994 at the senior level (cross-listed as a graduate course.) This presentation will describe how the course fits in to the overall undergraduate analytical chemistry curriculum, and highlight some of the challenges involved in presenting such highly interdisciplinary material to a self-selected audience. Instructional pedagogy and appropriate evaluation methods will be discussed, along with a profile of the students taking the course and specimen student feedback.
