CHED regional meetings initiative

CHED 107

Morton Z. Hoffman, hoffman@bu.edu, Department of Chemistry, Boston University, 590 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215
One of the many initiatives of CHED is directed toward the enhancement of chemical education programming at ACS regional meetings, including symposia on curricula, pedagogy, and research with invited speakers, professional development for two-year college faculty, and workshops for high school chemistry teachers. The Regional Meetings Committee (RMC) oversees this effort, and offers the resources of CHED representatives to the organizers of the meetings. The representatives participate in the meetings and attend to exhibit tables at which materials from CHED, the Journal of Chemical Education, and the ACS Examinations Institute, which are provided by the CHED Outreach Office, are displayed. In addition, RMC administers the Division of Chemical Education Regional Awards for Excellence in High School Teaching, which will be presented at the regional meetings beginning in 2007.
