The Chemistry Club of Southern Oregon University organizes community activities with the goal of encouraging young students to pursue their aspirations in the field of science. The integration of chemistry, biology, physics and geology into a single event allows children to be exposed to the various facets of science. Through demonstrations and hands-on experiments, children view the wonders of science and are dazzled by its possibilities. The activities offered at the spring 2006 event allowed students to fine tune their investigative skills and obtain a glimpse into the life of a scientist. By incorporating multiple disciplines into a single event, children are exposed to a variety of scientific fields and are able to identify their area of interest.
