A range of novel ionic liquids has been prepared in this paper, named coordinated ionic liquids, by mixing appropriate molar ratios of urea and zinc chloride. The properties of the coordinated ionic liquids have been investigated. When urea and zinc chloride at a molar ratio of 0.33, melting point is 16°C, decomposition voltage is 2.4 volt and conductivity at 100 °C is 7.52x103mS/cm. The conductivity and viscosity of slurry used on diaphragm paper of zinc manganese battery are studied by adding coordinated ionic liquids. Result indicates conductivity increasing and viscosity reducing and character of diaphragm paper enhancing by putting in appropriate coordinated ionic liquids.
