The author, a chemist and paper maker, collaborated with a stone lithographer Anita C. Dillman to design and prepare a piece of art, "Soaring," which has been installed in the Norris Cotton Cancer Research Center of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Design considerations along with the selection of materials and experimental methods for creating this artwork will be used to illustrate the similarities between studio art and laboratory research.
