Fructus rhodomyrtiis the fruit of the Rhodomytus tomentosa (Ait.) Hassk., and it is a traditional Chinese medicine material with anti-hepatitis property. According to the reports, it contains flavonoid glycosides, phenols, amino acids, organic acids and carbohydrates. It grows on knolls, wilderness which distributes in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guizhou, China. With the purpose on developing the Fructus rhodomyrti resources, we studied the oxidation resistance and the free radical clearing ability of the extract of Fructus rhodomyrti. In this experiment, we use the solvent such as alcohol, 75% alcohol, 50% methanol, ethyl acetate, methanol, and water to lixiviate the dried Fructus rhodomyrti powders, and then used the oxidation resistance determining box and the free radical clearing ability determining box from the Nanjing JianCheng Biotechnology Corporation to determine the oxidation resistance and the free radical clearing ability of the different extract. The results showed that 50% methanol extract had the optimum effect. So we will continuously study the oxidation resistance component of the Fructus rhodomyrti with the 50% methanol as the major lixiviating solution.
