| Silicone foam was synthesized and studied for water uptake affinity and kinetic characteristics at 20°C, 50°C and 80°C. The major components of the silicone foam were also studied for their water uptake affinity and kinetics. A thermodynamically consistent mathematical model describing water uptake was employed to characterize the data of the silicone foam components. This model formed the basis of a fully predictive model for a priori estimation of water sorption in silicone foam. The predictive model was tested against sorption and desorption data yielding favorable results for a range of temperatures. |
