| The ability of nanotubes for biocompatible transport has received much attention. We sought to utilize carbon nanotubes to carry organic dye photosensitizers into Jurkat cells. We have prepared single-walled carbon nanotube-organic dye (methylene blue) nanocomposites. Upon transport of the nanocomposite into cell followed by irradiation, cell death was observed. In contrast, the cells still stayed alive in the absence of irradiation. We hope that using of single-walled carbon nanotube-organic dye nanocomposties as new photosensitizers will become a new method to design supramolecular architectures with strong absorption for photodynamic therapy. |
