As part of an ongoing assessment of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL), the Student Assessment of Learning Gains (SALG) survey was administered in organic chemistry classes at four different institutions. For comparison, the survey was also administered in classes taught using traditional lecture methods and those using POGIL. The results clearly indicated that regardless of materials used, instructor, institution, and different student backgrounds, those taught with Guided Inquiry learning reported greater gains than those taught more traditionally.
