As part of California State University's Center for Integrative Coastal Research and Education (CICORE), CSU East Bay has deployed two continuous monitoring instruments at the San Leandro Marina and the Dumbarton Pier. We are collecting the data for temperature, salinity, turbidity, DO, pH, depth, and chlorophyll and making it available at http://www.sci.csueastbay.edu/CICORE/. In addition, we are collecting water and sediment samples along the shoreline at these locations and testing for trace metals. We are currently testing for Hg and will be testing for Cd and Cu in the future. Data from these stations are needed to address regional issues concerning wetlands restoration, climate change, water quality, sediment toxicity, and dredging. Spatial and temporal variation in these physical parameters will supplement the body of monitoring data collected by various agencies monitoring in San Francisco Bay.
