| As a pharmacist, I will be expected to teach a diverse group of people about the medicines that they are taking. Conducting undergraduate research in the area of chemical education has helped me learn how to teach a diverse group of people, our non-science majors. We have developed a laboratory activity where students will evaluate the strength of different Vitamin C tablets. Students will learn about the importance of vitamins in the diet, the history of Vitamin C, its structure, acids and bases and pH. We wrote and submitted an IRB proposal required for working with human subjects (our students) prior to the testing of this new activity in May 2006. Students were also asked to submit their comments about this new lab. We will discuss what we learned, during this research, when we taught this new lab, and will present our results and comments from our students. |
