The early 90's saw the beginnings of the very large project to write the National Science Education Standards. It was not at all apparent then that they would have the hoped for impact. Sylvia was very much at the center of the move to have the Standards done under the umbrella of the National Academy of Science. In the mid 90's the two pre-kindergarten books, Apples, Bubbles and Crystals and Sunlight, Skyscrapers, and Soda Pop were published. Both of these books for children sold out and one has been reprinted. Sylvia was the great influence behind these books to augment and compliment the middle school through college textbooks that ACS had published. Sylvia Ware is also well respected internationally as shown by the number of international writings, conferences, and invitations that she has been the primary person: from important synopses of education in various parts of the world, to invitations to make presentations at international meetings, to invitations to bring example teachers to aid in establishing ChemCom in the world.
