Molecular models are useful tools for learning chemistry even when (especially when!) students do not build the models themselves. Convenient methods for constructing and delivering teacher-built models will be described, as well as the use of inexpensive commercial model databases. Several examples of chemistry lessons based on pre-built models will be presented, along with some ideas about what makes for a successful model-based lesson.
