Lewis acid catalyzed reactions are of considerable importance in organic synthesis. This work illustrates the design of several imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine tridentate (N,N,O) iron lewis acids for this purpose. We report the synthesis and characterization of new Substituted-2-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-yl)phenols and their ferric complexes. Various X-ray crystal structures of these complexes are reported.
