Redox-active trinuclear copper complexes are of special interest because several of them have been found in the catalytic center of some multicopper enzymes, such as laccase, ascorbate oxidase, and ceruloplasmin. In the present work, the electrochemical oxidation of some Cu(II)-pyrazolate complexes of formula [Cu3(μ-O)(μ-4-R-pz)3X3]n have been studied. We have found that the substitution on the supporting pyrazole influences the half-wave potential of oxidation. Following are examples of two such oxidation processes for R = C(O)H, and R = H.
