Growing up in the ACS with Sylvia: An American's experience

The author will chronicle his involvement with governance in the American Chemical Society from ingenue in the Society Committee on Education, when he proposed the creation of the High School Office, to his departure from SOCED as a senior consultant. His ACS career was entwined with that of Sylvia Ware, leading to both a synergistic creation of new programs and products and the emergence of the ACS as a formidable proponent of science education. Highlights of the author's long professional relationship with Sylvia as revealed by a few poignant, sometimes amusing, anecdotes will be related.
