Building a healthy student affiliate chapter is no easy task, but a goal that Texas Southern University has reached and will continue to build upon. The 2004-2005 school year marked the first year where the TSU chapter fulfilled all its objectives and delivered a chapter report to ACS. We were ecstatic when our chapter was awarded “Commendable” for our activities; therefore, we pushed to make the 2005-2006 school year even more successful. To accomplish this, we pressed for more campus activities to increase Chemistry Awareness on our campus, we became shining exemplars to many youths at various public schools and organizations, we hosted more fundraisers, and represented ourselves at plenty national conferences. Reflecting on these activities makes our hearts glow with satisfaction and gives us a solid foundation and direction to take for the many years to come of maintaining a fresh student affiliate chapter.
