| I don't intend to answer the ultimate existential (perhaps chemical?) question, “What's it all about, Alfie?” Nor will I ponder the road (s) taken or not taken. No, I wish to celebrate some of the pilgrims who have traveled the road with me and, for better or worse, fashioned the opportunities I have had, the life I have led, and the ideas that have become important to me. What we contribute is not only an act of self-will--because it is at least partially that--but is intimately and ultimately shaped by the people we are fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to meet on the journey. I have been more fortunate than unfortunate thus, in the well-worn words of all authors, any mistakes I have made have been my own! Thank you for the memories. |
