The potassium salt of the 9-BBN hydroborate anion has a tetrametric structure when associated with toluene, methyl THF, or a mixture of toluene-THF, and THF-diethyl ether. With the chelating solvent DME, it has a dimeric structure, as demonstrated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Agostic interactions between K and C-H and B-H were obseved.
