| As is the case with most academics, the first job is not always the best job. I am no exception in the sense that I am currently in my second tenure track position, having been out of graduate school for a mere 5 years. While there are certainly tricks of the trade when it comes to searching for that “perfect” position, candidates searching for a position in the relatively new and still sometimes misunderstood field of chemistry education have a few additional factors to consider when it comes to finding the best fit. Starting with my own experiences, this talk will address issues specific to job hunting in the field of chemical education including dissecting the job advertisement, interviewing, and negotiations. While I certainly don't consider myself an expert, I hope my hindsight will help others' foresight. |
