| Despite lead(II)-hydroxides being implicated as important nucleophilic intermediates in the cleavage of RNA, little is known about such complexes outside of gas-phase and theoretical studies. This is potentially due to the kinetic instability of such complexes and their propensity to form insoluble aggregates in solution. We have utilised bulky Β-diketiminate ligands to stabilise a series of lead(II)-terminal alkoxide complexes generated from their corresponding lead(II)-halides. Progress towards understanding the nature of the lead-oxygen bond, as well the potential for the lead(II)-alkoxide to act as a nucleophile, will be discussed. |
