The ChemBridge Program is a partnership between The University of Texas at Austin and Independent School Districts in Texas. The goal of the program is to increase the participation and success of students from urban high school in natural science programs at the university level. The main component of the ChemBridge Program is a dual-credit chemistry course offered to high school juniors and seniors. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive credit for UT-Austin's first semester general chemistry course. As part of the ChemBridge Program, a teacher development workshop has been created to train the teachers to successfully facilitate the program at the individual high schools. Details of the course used in the ChemBridge Program and the teacher workshop are presented along with anecdotal evidence of the success of the program to date.
