Platinum(II) bipyridyl and terpyridyl acetylides are emerging as an interesting class of charge transfer chromophores with a myriad of potential applications. This presentation will focus on recent work from our laboratory in this area with particular emphasis on the latest structures including acetylide-bearing metallacycles that display enhanced visible absorptions and extended excited state lifetimes. Complete static and dynamic absorption and photoluminescence explorations of these compounds will be presented along with preliminary photochemical investigations.
