We have examined Ir-catalyzed borylations of heterocyclic compounds. This talk will focus on substrates containing 5-memebered rings, such as pyrroles, indoles, imidazoles, furans, and thiophenes. The regioselectivities of the borylations will be compared to those observed using more traditional methods, and the influence of the Ir ligand on selectivity and functional group compatibility will be discussed. In addition, preliminary results from experiments that probe the mechanisms responsible for the selectivities will be shared.
