Performance of cathodes of various contents of Pt, Co and Ni has been examined in direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC's). All the cathodes were prepared by plasma deposition, while the fabrication condition for anodes has been kept rather unaltered. Contents of platinum used in the study ranged from 25% to 100% and those of Co and Ni ranged from 13% to 38%. Performance of the Pt(0.5)/Co,Ni(0.5) and the Pt(0.75)/Co,Ni(0.25) cathodes appeared to be more enhanced than that of the Pt cathode of the same thickness.
