A coordination polymer, [Co1Co2V12V22O12(H2O) 4]n, has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system, P2(1)/m space group a=5.572(4), b = 10.698(9), c = 11.835(10)Å,V=705.5(10)Å3, Z=4 and R(Rw) = 0.0384(0.0987). The crystal structure shows a 3D open-network. The asymmetric unit consists of two crystallographically independent Co(II), two V(V) ions. Both Co1 and Co2 ions are 6-coordinated. Both V1 and V2 ions are 4-coordinated. Projection along a, the layer structure exhibits a honeycomb network constructed from angle-sharing CoO6 and VO4 polyhedrons. Projection along b, the layer structure exist two types of eight-angle ring, Co12V14V22 and Co22V24V12. The surface photovoltage spectra (SPS) of the complex show three positive SPV responses in the range of 300-800nm(lmax=342nm, LMCT; 370nm and 687nm, d-d transitions) This work was supported by the NSFC (Nos. 20571037 and 90201018).
