| The University of Wisconsin-Madison has long been a fertile location for electrochemistry with strong ties to mentors and the building of links to new generations of mentors. A glimpse of the dynamic group there in the 1980s headed by Dennis Evans will demonstrate the broad range of interests of one group of electrochemists. This group was strongly influenced by prior Badger electrochemist Irving Shain and had many opportunities to interact with other electrochemists. This training laid the foundation for the current work and mentoring for Badger electrochemists Alanah Fitch and Leslie Lyons. Lyons will talk about teaching electrochemistry as part of the analytical curriculum at Grinnell College and her current research efforts with undergraduate students at Grinnell College using the electrochemical technique of impedance spectroscopy. |
