High gold concentration catalyst could be very relevant for small PROX reactors. However, in the literature there is very little information about this subject. Therefore, this study reports the results related to preparation procedures, role of water, pretreatments and stability of high gold concentration catalysts supported on ZnO. The catalysts were prepared by deposition-precipitation and coprecipitation using HAuCl4 and Na2CO3. These samples were analyzed by DRIFTS, XRD, O2 chemisorption. It was verified that pretreatments and moisture can change the surface carbonate and gold species. It was also observed that is feasible to synthesize high gold concentration systems although they are not stable for long periods.
