The polyesters were derived from 2DOPO-PhOH, sebacoyl chloride and terephthaloyl chloride. When the molar ratio of sebacoyl chloride and terephthaloyl chloride is 1:1, the polyester contained rigid structure (benzene-ester-benzene-carbon (2DOPO)-benzene-ester-benzene) and exhibited mesophic and crystallizing texture in a temperature range about 100 oC. Rigid structure (benzene-ester-benzene-carbon (2DOPO)-benzene-ester-benzene) in polyester promoted the regular arrangement of the polymer molecules and the forming of crystallization state and liquid crystal phase. The polyesters without the structure (benzene-ester-benzene-carbon (2DOPO)-benzene-ester-benzene) did not exhibit crystalline properties. All polyesters owned good thermal stability owing to its high residual char yield of P1, P2 surpass 18% and 19% respectively.
