Carbohydrate-carbohydrate interactions at monolayers

A variety of multivalent glycoconjugates have been used to probe carbohydrate-carbohydrate interactions (CCI). CCI mediates cellular adhesion events during metastasis, development, and myelination. We describe our studies of CCI using glycosylated micelles, dendrimers and Langmuir monolayers as model systems which provide insight into these membrane molecular recognition events.
