| Suwon poplar (Populus albaglandulosa) is one of three major poplar species growing in Korea and has a nationwide distribution. This is the species that had been hybridized between P. alba and P. glandulosa in Korea 30 years ago. The bark of suwon poplar was extracted with 70% acetone, and successively partitioned with n-hexane, CH2Cl2, EtOAc and water. Repeated column chromatographic separation of the EtOAc fraction resulted in the isolation of a new compound, cis-2-hydroxycyclohexyl-4-O-r-coumaroyl-b-D-glucopyranoside. Its chemical structure has been established on the basis of spectroscopic means, including NMR and FAB MS. |
