It is a pleasure to participate in this Symposium designed to kick off the Mark Scholar Program. In this presentation I will touch on a number of new opportunities in Advanced Polymer Materials. In particular, I will discuss some of our recent work as it relates to the need for new and improved polymers. Topics to be considered include 1.New polymers for improved air and water purification, 2. New systems with greatly improved wear resistance, 3. Polymers for composites with greatly improved properties, and 4. Polymers which address some of the current needs of the microelectronic industries.
