Perfluorophenyl azides have been used as crosslinking reagents in photoaffinity labeling due to their efficient insertion into C-H and C-C bonds. We investigated the use of 4, 4-diazidooctafluorobiphenyl as a crosslinking agent for polyaniline. We studied the photo and thermal crosslinking of polyaniline with 4, 4-diazidooctafluorobiphenyl. The crosslinking of the polyaniline is demonstrated with the help of Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Thermogravimetric Analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The polyaniline films containing the crosslinking agent showed a better thermal stability than plain polyaniline films. The electrical conductivity of the crosslinked polyaniline films was measured with the help of a 4 point probe. The electrical conductivity of the crosslinked polyaniline films was found to be 36 S/cm and this was slightly lower than the conductivity of plain polyaniline films (50 S/cm). 4, 4-diazidooctafluorobiphenyl can thus be used as an efficient crosslinking agent for controlling the bulk properties of polyaniline.
