We attempted to prepare the colored polymer particles in the absence of organic solvents by high temperature-assisted disperse dyeing. PMMA-based polymer particles were prepared by emulsifier-free emulsion copolymerization which has been known to one of useful methods to produce monodisperse polymer particles with a diameter of nano-scale. To enhance the surface charge of the polymeric nanoparticles in oil media, the polymer particles were treated with amine. Through aminolysis and disperse dyeing, the electrophoretic mobility of the particles was highly enhanced.
