| Recently, researches for nanoparticles have been advanced rapidly because of their special properties and wide application. Especially, research on polymeric nanocapsules has been of interest to many groups. Polymeric nanocapsules are used in optoelectronic, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, catalytic and materials applications. PVK is a promising polymer for good photo-conductor, electroluminescent devices, and photorefractive materials. N-vinylcarbazole (VCz) is a white crystalline material and with a melting point of 65ºC. PVK nanoparticles could be prepared by oil-in-water emulsion polymerization using toluene solution of VCz. Herein, we present the preparation of LC / PVK core-shell nanoparticles. Mixtures of LC, surfactant and water was emulsified to make LC micelles, VCz was polymerized onto LC micelles by dropping toluene solution of VCz to the reactor. The size of LC / PVK core-shell nanoparticles was 100-500nm. Also, the morphology of LC / PVK core-shell nanoparticles depending on type of LCs and initiators is discussed in this paper. |
