Multiple-wall hydrodroxyl carbon nanotubes (MWNT-OH) were functionalized with a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA). The functionalized carbon tubes samples were analyzed and studied by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectra and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) compared with the unfunctionalized carbon nanotubes. According to results from the spectroscopic and electron microscopic characterizations, the carbon nanotubes are functionalized by SMA successfully.
