| Color is an attribute that is most often taken for granted, and most frequently poorly communicated. This presentation will focus on the key factors in measuring and communicating color values. A brief overview of the physics, chemistry, and physiology of seeing color will be presented in order to better appreciate these key factors. "Color" is such a subjective quality, that it is important to formalize the technical communication of these values. The principle factors in communicating color values are the light source, sample presentation, and the observer or detector. You will be introduced to the establishment of empirical color space descriptors, such as CIEL a b, Hunter L*a*b, etc. Various types of equipment and instrumentation for color measuring color will also be highlighted. |
