Efforts toward the synthesis of Psymberin: Synthesis of Psymberic acid and studies toward the determination of its absolute and relative stereochemistry

We have developed a quick and efficient route to synthesize all possible stereoisomers of the N-acyl fragment of the potent cytotoxin psymberin, which we have named psymberic acid. In conjunction with our synthetic work, we are currently performing degradative studies to elucidate the absolute and relative stereochemistry of the natural product which is unconfirmed in the literature.
