Supramolecular fixation of nitrogen dioxide

Supramolecular entrapment, storage and transfer of nitrosonium by calixarenes and calixarenes based nanotubes will be discussed. Calixarenes reversibly react with NO2/N2O4 gases with the formation of calix-nitrosonium complexes. These can be used as selective nitrosating reagents for amides, amines and alcohols. Nitrosonium transfer mechanism and scope will be presented.
